8 SECRETS TO EFFECTIVE EATING

1)      Learn how many calories you NEED to eat everyday.  Once we have established how much we should eat, then we can tackle the what, how and when.

2)      Always eat breakfast.  The first meal of the day will help determine your metabolic rate for the rest of the day.  A larger meal in the morning will increase your metabolism more than a small meal.

3)      Eat every three hours throughout the day.  Set your watch if you have to.  Eating every three hours will keep your metabolism high and stabilize your blood-sugar levels.  This means that we will burn more calories and store less body fat.

4)      Eat carbohydrates for breakfast and after a workout only.  These times of the day are when your blood-sugar is at its lowest.  Eating carbs will provide you with energy while preventing fat storage.

5)      Consume 1 gram of protein for every pound that you weigh.  If you weigh 150 lbs, you should eat 150g of protein every day.

6)      Pair your meals as protein/fat or protein/carbs, but never carbs/fat.  Eating carbohydrates and fats together will force your body to store fat.

7)      Eat fat!  Dietary fat is important in that your body needs fat to burn fat.  Fish, fish oil, flax seed, and olive oil are great sources of dietary fat.

8)      If you can’t pronounce it, don’t eat it.  Avoiding processed foods that contain additives and preservatives will help keep your diet “clean”.
